" Chimpanzee adenoviral (ChAd) vectors are amongst the most promising technology platforms for novel genetic vaccines, thanks to low seroprevalence, potent immunogenicity, and good manufacturability and safety in humans. Combining ChAd and MVA (Modified Vaccinia Ankara) in heterologous prime boost regimens has been shown to consistently induce potent and broad antibody and T cell responses in several preclinical models and clinical studies. Importantly, the platform is highly flexible; we will discuss how it can be adapted and tailored to specific needs, such as special patients’ populations, co-infection setting, induction of local immunity and potentiation of immune responses through the use of genetic adjuvants, all features that may be key for successful prevention or treatment of chronic infections or cancer."
